Robert Pisani
Rob is a nationally known international trade lawyer with over 35 years of government and industry experience. He is a former partner of a national law firm and was the first director of the firm’s multi-disciplinary trade advisory group. Rob represents a diverse group of clients, including major corporations involved in the importation of agricultural/food products, telecommunication/electronic equipment, textile goods, mass merchandise, wood/lumber, and various manufactured articles. He has assisted numerous clients in import enforcement proceedings, internal compliance reviews, Customs Focused Assessments and C-TPAT application/certification and validation proceedings. Rob is an accomplished speaker on international trade issues. Over the course of his career, Rob has spoken at virtually every major Customs port of entry in the United States and has provided over 300 trade-related seminars. In addition he has addressed numerous government and industry groups in the U.S. and overseas. In addition to being well known at Customs Headquarters in Washington, thanks to Rob's Customs field officer training sessions and frequent travels to virtually all of the local Customs offices, he is well known at most of the Customs ports of entry across the United States.

Rob also founded and established the Global Electronic Trade Alliance (“GETA”) a trade association formed to promote online global trade, chaired by a former Customs Commissioner. Rob also incorporated the International Compliance Professionals Association, referred over a third of the initial membership and served as its first general counsel. In addition to his trade association experience, at the invitation of the American Conference Institute, Rob has served as co-chair for all three of the Institute's unique and ground-breaking Global Customs Compliance seminars. These seminars have attracted the attention and participation of the most skilled and respected public and private sector Customs experts from across the globe.

Prior to his industry experience, Rob was a Senior Attorney at U.S. Customs Headquarters in Washington. While at Customs he participated in the resolution of most major Customs penalty cases, and was a principal agency spokesperson on the Customs Modernization Act and Customs trade compliance issues. Rob is the author of Customs revised reasonable care checklist, the Customs prior disclosure regulations, the publication entitled “The ABC’s of Prior Disclosure,” and Customs section 1592 penalty guidelines. Rob received the Commissioner of Customs Award in both1983 and 1999, and he completed Harvard University's Senior Executive Fellow's Program at the JFK School of Government in 1991.

Rob received his B.A. degree from Tulane University in 1974, and obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Washington College of Law of the American University in 1978. He is a member of the District of Columbia and Florida Bar Associations. Rob is admitted to practice before the Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
